Next Saturday Manny Pacquiao the WBC Super Featherweight Champion will take on current WBC Lightweight Champion David Diaz. This fight is a highly anticipated one and could be called the fight of June. As a run up to the fight, I will give an overall biography of both fighters including their achievements and top moments of their boxing careers starting today with Manny Pacquiao.

Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao started his professional boxing career in 1995 he was only 106 pounds at the time and ended up entering the Light Flyweight weight division. He won his professional four round debut via decision against Edmund Ignacio. He went on to have more successful fights against greater established fighters and in 2001 he became the IBF Super Bantamweight Champion after standing in for an injured fighter and defeating Lehlohonolo Ledwaba. In March 2008 Pacquiao claimed the WBC Super Featherweight title after beating Juan Manuel Marquez in a rematch. That fight was an amazing one where both fighters gave their all. Hopefully the fight between Pacquiao and Diaz will be just as good!
