If you ever want to get close to heaven, Flagstaff is your answer. Joe & I took a weekend trip up north, we went to Flag the Sedona route. We stopped off at Oak Creek Canyon & waded in the creek. The water was freezing cold. We then went on to Flagstaff, we walked the campus of NAU, this is where Joe went to college (Exercise Science degree). We got up the next morning, packed the boys (Kiwi & Meko) in our backpacks & went on a 2 mile hike in Buffalo Park in lovely 76 degree weather.
The air there is so fresh in Flag, smelling of pine trees, you just feel so darn healthy up there. And the smell of wood stoves burning made it perfect. Boy, it did get a bit chili at night, we had to put on sweatshirts. One of the main reasons we go up there is to eat the best pizza in the world. The place is called Ni Marcos Pizza, located at 101 S. Beaver Street. It is well worth the drive!
We came back through Jerome & hung out on the streets drinking ice tea & people watching. There are still quite a few old time hippies in Jerome. Then it came time to return home, oh, what a joy coming home to 113 degrees (not). But like they say, it feels good to be home. This upcoming weekend we insisted that Tony & Monique go up there. It didn’t take much to convince Tony. Well, I take that back… Cotto fights Margarito Saturday, Cotto is one of Tony’s favorites. Joe told Tony, once he & Monique arrives in Oak Creek Canyon he’d forget all about Cotto.

Hi Renene, i can vouch for the niceness of North Arizona. I’ve had the pizza as you know and it is delicious. The air is fantastic up there and i’d love to do a running program up there. Its a great retreat, and oak creek is a pretty place i just wished i had jumped in the water like everyone else.

I spent a long weekend in Oak Creek last fall – climbing on the rocks, hiking up the mountain, and just enjoying the scenery. Can’t beat it, that’s for sure! I’m heading to Yosemite next week. Niiice, another chance for me to just feel so insignificant in the world!
