Perry Scott Walker Professional Boxer, born October 30, 1969 in Mesa, lived in Apache Junction, Arizona.
Walker’s nickname was “The Pink Cat,” and he gained some attention in the 1990s boxing scene for wearing pink boxing trunks and slicked-back hair, the latter a tribute to his idol, James Dean. He is best known for winning a ten round decision over hall-of-fame champion Alexis Arguello, ending Arguello’s ill-conceived bid at a comeback in 1995. Walker fought another hall-of-famer Julio Cesar Chaves in 1996 in a nationally televised bought, losing in a second-round knockout. Walker infamously cried tears in the ring after the knockout, fueling rumors (started by the Pink Cat nickname and pink trunks) that he was gay. Later in his career, Walker won the WBC Continental Americas light welterweight title over Francisco Cuesta on July 17, 1995. He retired with a record of 25-7-1 (13 KO’s).
January 31, 2004 Walker was found dead (age 34) in his home of unspecified causes. He is a member of the Arizona Boxing Hall of Fame. Fight Record: BoxRec
Footnote: Personally I don’t think he was gay, he was just man enough to dare to wear pink. It is really bad what they say about people after they are dead and gone. A friend of ours from Las Vegas knew Walker, said the guy was a truly skilled boxer.

How sad he died so young. I like that he wore pink trunks – makes me think he wasn’t someone that just conformed, but instead led his own way. (My kind of guy)

Scott was a great guy. He was my best friend for several years and was a genuine guy. “The Pink Cat” was a reference to the ’70′s Pink Panther films and comic character, but since trademarks and large corporations exist he called himself the Pink Cat. My regret for him was that he died too young and left a small child and wife behind.

As a boxing fan, I remember “The Pink Cat” fondly. The first time I saw him he knocked out someone with a left hook in the second round on ESPN. I thought this dude had style. The pink trunks, the do, and he played that rock piano…how was I gonna forget him. Then I heard Arguello lost to some guy called Scott Walker. “Scott Walker?”
Yeah, “The Pink Cat”. You don’t know him? That dude’s good.
I didn’t know about the homosexual b.s. until I read this article. People are so stupid some times. They’re just so gullible to believe anything or to just take something at surface and make their bad conclusions right then and there.
Just like you said, DT. That’s what I thought. As in The Pink Panther. Combined with the look and attitude. WTF else was I gonna think?
My condolences to you DT. He WAS a great guy. That I could just tell. And you’re right, Lisa. That dude just marched to the beat of his own drum. You couldn’t do nothin’ else but watch and enjoy the ride.
I hope you and Arguello are sharing some laughs and some memories right now…
Rest In Peace, Gentlemen.

Ya know, I dated both Scott and his little brother when I was in High School, his younger brother first, then Scott a few years later. He tried to teach me how to box once in the ring at his parents furniture store, I guess I never could get my hook down. He loved coming in to Joe’s for that famous 50′s style grilled burger and milkshake at Tri-City mall, which is no longer there. HE WAS DEFINETLY NOT GAY!!! He had issues like all of us, a little stuck on himself, but then again, as a boxer you kind of have to be. To all, Torrey, I am truly sorry for your loss

Shoot. I just found out about this news today. I used to live in AZ and used to work out at his Dad’s Max’s tin shed out back from his furniture store. Me and Scott went fishing a couple of times on the Chevelon Canyon River and had a great time. I moved from AZ in 2000. We weren’t real close and I fell out of touch with him a long time ago, but I was in AZ back in 2007 and went fishing on Chevelon and was thinking about him.
Scott was a good boxer, an excellent fisherman, and definitely not gay. My heart goes out to Max and his very sweet wife and whomever else Scott left behind.

Scott ‘The Pink Cat’ Walker was an old school rockabilly cat with the gonnest blond, greased ‘duck tails’ ever. He was the smoothest swing dancing partner a gal could have and it was as fun to watch him in the boxing ring as it was to see him clear a dance floor. He wore pink boxing shorts ‘because it is like wearing red into a bullfighting ring’ he used to say. We rang in the new millennium together and I will miss him forever.

Well, Ruth was right; Scott was a great guy and a fantasic boxer. When I was in VAPOR LOCK in the mid-late 90′s, we played a bunch with HOGLEG and had a hoot. His Pitbull Elvis was always cooler than shinola…still miss that boy
