Today I wanted to post 2 videos that are quite inspiring.

This first one will bring tears to your eyes. They are the Hoyt’s. The dad’s name is Dick and his son’s name is Rick. After the first time Rick ran a marathon with his dad, he told him: “Dad, when we were running, It felt like I wasn’t disabled anymore!’” His dad got obssesed with giving his son that feeling as much as he could.

The second one is how a Navy Seal trains for the Ironman and how he thinks.

“When I first started, I really was not a football player. I never really even liked football then,” Walker told MMA Fighting. “I just loved to run. If it would have been around then, I really think I would have been an MMA fighter.”

At 47 years old, Walker is finally following his calling. He makes his debut on Jan. 30, facing little-known Greg Nagy at a Strikeforce show in Sunrise, Fla.

Renene here, reporting ringside from my laptop. A lot going on today. We have some serious sparring going on. Paul, our new coach had 5 new members sign up with him today. He is doing an awesome job, he fits in with Tony, Chris, & Billy like a glove (like a boxing glove that is, heehee). Paul trains his people with real passion.

Robyn a.k.a.”Die Hard” & I are trying to come up with a new T-shirt design. We might bring the skull back, with a whole new look. He is a great artist & drew up a couple of tough looking skulls.

The boys are here with me in the office, sleeping in their little red beds. Kiwi likes it here, cause he gets extra cookies. Meko just wants to go home & sit in the big recliner with Joe.

Mark Evans is back from Afghanistan. He will be in the morning to train with Joe. Dani girl is walking in the door. She’s the one on  our website.

Did you know that strong abs will make for a stronger back? But, did you also know… 30% of low back pain is caused by tight hamstrings. So the next time before doing anything involving the back (like boxing too), stretch out the ol’ hamstrings. Do a few touch your toes, wide stance squats, & all those floor leg stretching exercises that you use to do in the old days.

One of my favorites is a stand up leg stretch: With one foot on the ground (with locked knee), lift the other leg onto a bench, then lean into the raised leg (on the bench), & stretch it good & hold it for a few seconds.

Then there’s Robyn Wallace. He joined up with Irongloves 16 days ago & already has earned the title of “Die Hard”. He trains with Coach Tony 3 days per week, then comes in on his off days to do more training on his own. He packs food, cuz he trains Mon thru Friday for at least 3 hours everyday.

He is one focused boxer, he trains with such intensity as he goes over & over his boxing drills/techniques, thus, is advancing rapidly. Robyn is new to the boxing game & took an instant love to it. Keep up the good work Robyn, it’s because of people like yourself is why Joe built this whole Irongloves concept – Meaning… your eyes light up when you come walking through our doors.

Justin Erickson is one of our ‘Open Gym’ members, he’s the guy that you see wearing a blue mouthguard. He does quite a bit of the old way of training, leaving no stone unturned & is strong as an ox!!!

Motivation is a fire from within. If someone else tries to light that fire under you, chances are it will burn very briefly. Renene’s favorite saying goes well with this… “Think like a Champion, Train like a Warrior”.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a vet out in the East Valley area? We are looking for one that isn’t so high on vaccines. Our two little boys are very allergic to vaccines and also to the rabies vaccine. Many types of vaccines aren’t necessary, but it’s difficult to find a veterinarian that believes this as well.

Please email if you wouldn’t mind taking the time to> ironglovesboxing@aol.com
Thank you very much! Renene
