Convicted Murderer Don King Honored by

College of Health Professionals May 6

The twice convicted murderer has a long history of threats, bribes, extortion, in addition to numerous lawsuits brought against him by fighters claiming missing funds. Yet, The College of Health Professionals in Syosset, New York feels that these accomplishments warrant Don King receiving an honorary doctorate.

The list of fighters that Don has manipulated reads like a “who’s who” of the greats of the past 40 years. These include Holmes, Witherspoon, Tubbs, Tucker, Page, Smith, Chavez, Gomez, Zarate, Zamora, and Duran. And, perhaps the most notable, Muhammad Ali. While still in the hospital recovering from the Holmes fight, Ali was forced to accept a fraction of the original purse. Significant is the fact that all these fighters were either African American or Hispanic.

And then there was Tyson. Don called Mike his son. But, he had no problem stepping over him to get to Douglas in 1990. There was King, moments after the KO, smiling with the new champion.

Perhaps the most accurate description of King was, “Don King puts the girls on the street and the boys in the ring – he best can be described as a disease.” This can be found in one of the articles.

For some unknown reason, The College of Health Professionals has decided to overlook Don’s hideous deeds over the past forty years and instead pays honor to a convicted murderer. The fighters he has taken advantage of would disagree with their decision.
